The unfortunate truth is that
there are countless women finding it difficult to leave a relationship that
needs to be in their past... simply because they don’t want to leave without knowing or
feeling that they gave their absolute best. This is beautiful but can be
terrible because their idea of absolute best is sometimes draining themselves
of every ounce of effort, their heart of every bit of
love they can give until it’s all gone. They sacrifice their all for a
man who couldn’t or wouldn’t give them the bare minimum. They find the word ‘love’ becoming something they never want to
experience again or at least for now. What’s even sadder is that men
dealing with women like that are clueless. They miss the obvious signs,
the cry for reciprocity, the need to show up to the
relationship and nurture it. When they hear the woman’s
complaint they label as same ole same ole, when the pain starts to make
her defensive, they call her crazy. When she’s no longer trying,
they call it lazy. When the woman’s fed up and
done, they start to make promises they are unwilling to keep, acting like
they care, playing the victim role, and putting up a fight for a relationship
they never cared for or even knew how to. This poem is to those men, the men who wait till a good woman is no longer good to them to
cherish her. This poem is also to those
women, the good women who feel like all the good they’ve had to offer
is gone. |
